Raw Materials and Semiproducts

Systematic excavations have led to a more clearly defined distribution of raw materials in the ship’s cargo, among which the most noteworthy are large casks filled with red ochre; small casks filled with conical ingots of white lead; a strikingly yellow loose powder which, based on analysis, is probably a substance based on arsenic sulphide and clusters of red mercury sulphide or cinnabar. Moreover, the zone with a high quantity of elemental mercury was more precisely located. Among the semiproducts, brass wire, brass sheets and tin bars stand out.
